ST. LOUIS -- Ed Martin will no longer have to debate himself.
After showing up at several "debates" -- which turned into solo town halls when Martin was the only candidate to show -- the Republican congressional hopeful will finally get a chance to take on incumbent Democratic U.S. Rep. Russ Carnahan.
The campaigns have agreed to a pair debates -- which also include the Libertarian and Constitution candidates -- later this month, hosted by the League of Women Voters.
The first debate, on Sept. 24, will be at Forest Park Community College. The second, on Sept. 26, will be at the city rec center in Arnold.
Martin previously issued a press release proclaiming a series of debates had already been scheduled last month, but that bit of news did not make it to Carnahan, who never agreed to debate in August.
In addition to their policy differences, Martin and Carnahan have drastically different stump styles -- Martin is gregarious, Carnahan reserved but more experienced - which will make their upcoming debate must-see political theater.
