FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS • A former employee of an Alton credit union has admitted using her employer's money to buy a truck, pay credit card bills and make personal loans to herself and her husband.
Kalicza Tegel-Mills, 26, of Plainview, Ill., pleaded guilty to a federal charge of financial institution fraud, prosecutors said today. She was indicted Sept. 20.
Tegel-Mills worked for the Alton Employees Federal Credit Union from 2006 to 2010, during which time she rose to vice president of operations.
Tegel-Mills didn't record the $32,000 truck payment or the personal loans and didn't debit her account for credit card payments, prosecutors have said.
Sentencing is set for March 5. Prosecutors say Tegel-Mills faces up to 30 years in prison, a $1 million fine and five years' supervised probation.
