ST. LOUIS COUNTY  •  A Florida man died after his vehicle collided with a tractor trailer at 8:15 p.m. Saturday on Interstate 64, west of Boone's Crossing.

David Hoffman, 34, of Stuart, Fla., was pronounced dead on the scene, according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.

Two passengers, Christopher W. Jackson, 33, also of Stuart, and Brittany N. Ruckman, 25, of Festus, sustained moderate injuries.

Hoffman was driving a 2003 Chevrolet S10 when it collided with a 2006 Freightliner driven by Quartabis P. Farmer, 36, of Walls, Miss. Farmer was not injured.

Hoffman was eastbound on I-64 at a high rate of speed and spun out in front of Farmer's tractor trailer, which collided into Hoffman's vehicle, according to the Highway Patrol. Hoffman's vehicle overturned, and he was ejected.
