Times are tough, and if you have bad credit buying a car can be a hassle. There are plenty of dealers that guarantee financing for everyone, but is it really possible?
Cherita Poindexter admits her credit is less than ideal. That's why she went to Auto Stop in Hazelwood last summer to purchase a used car. Poindexter put $6,000 down, and made her first two payments on time only to have the car repossessed.
Today Poindexter is out the cash, and out the car, and she says there's no explanation.
Poindexter was financed through Credit Acceptance and has the paperwork to prove it. After the car was repossessed Credit Acceptance refunded Poindexter's first two payments, but she's still out her $6,000 down payment. Poindexter's attorney calls it a yo-yo deal, and now he's taking the dealer to court.
Credit Acceptance and Auto Stop both have attorney's working on the case. Poindexter is represented by Legal Services of Eastern Missouri.
Tonight on News 4 hear what all sides have to say about this bizarre car deal gone bad. The story will also have you reading the fine print before you secure financing on your next car purchase, even if you put down a sizable down payment.
