UPDATED at 4 p.m. Monday. Police say this robber may have struck again.
ST. LOUIS • Police have released surveillance photos of a man wanted in the robbery of a gas station and are asking for the public's help in finding the man.
The man hit the Conoco Convenience Store at 6428 Chippewa Street, in the St. Louis Hills neighborhood, about 6 p.m. on New Year's Day, police said. He pointed a knife at the cashier and demanded money. He left with an undisclosed amount of cash and was last seen running north from the store.
He was described as in his 30s, about 5 feet 6 to 5 feet 8, and between 230 and 255 pounds. He had some facial hair and wore blue jeans, a blue shirt, a tan jacket, a yellow baseball cap and muddy shoes.
Authorities ask anyone with information about the robbery to call CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-8477. Callers can remain anonymous, and may be eligible for up to $1,000 in reward money.
Police say the same man may be responsible for a similar robbery at a SuperCuts location at 6002 Hampton Avenue. The hair salon was hit Sunday night by a man described as posssibly in his 40s with shaggy hair and facial hair, wearing a blue and black plaid shirt, blue jeans and a dark baseball cap.
The man, armed with a knife, robbed the SuperCuts about 5 p.m. as the business was closing, police said. No one was injured.
