The westbound lanes of the Daniel Boone Bridge carrying Highway 40 across the Missouri River won't be shut down next weekend (Sept. 10-13) after all.
The Missouri Department of Transportation said Friday that rain has delayed the contractor's scaffolding work and there's not enough time now to complete that task in time for a full weekend of repairs.
The closure planned for the weekend of Sept. 17-20 will go on as scheduled, MoDOT said.
The shutdown is needed for maintenance work; about 75,000 vehicles use the bridge each day.
