UPDATED 5:29 p.m. with victim's employment
St. Louis County Prosecutor Robert McCulloch's office released the identity of the woman found dead Sunday in Sunset Hills.
McCulloch's spokesman, Don Schneider, said Sherry Bladdick, 49 of the 8500 block of Titchfield Court in south St. Louis County was the victim of a homicide in Sunset Hills. He said the Major Case Squad has a suspect in custody, but declined to elaborate on how the suspect knew Bladdick or how she was killed.
A spokesman for the Donald Danforth Plant Science Center confirmed she had been an employee there, but declined further comment saying the Major Case Squad was handling the investigation.
The medical examiner, Dr. Mary Case, said the woman's body was brought to her office after being discovered Sunday, and that an initial exam suggested her death might be related to drinking at a party.
Case said new information led to an autopsy and a ruling that the death was homicide; she would not provide details.
Officials would not even say where the woman was found.
A police source said the woman had argued with a boyfriend, and that an autopsy revealed she suffered a blow to the head.
