Building permit and inspection fees will rise by an average of 20 percent in Des Peres.
A cost analysis prompted the rate increase, said City Administrator Doug Harms.
Building permit fees for commercial and industrial construction will be $150, plus $6 for each $1,000 or portion thereof; residential building permits will be $100, plus $6 per each $1,000 of improvement costs.
The fees were last examined in 2001, so the rate increase is roughly 2 percent a year — still lower than neighboring cities of Frontenac, Kirkwood and Town and Country, Harms said.
The board unanimously approved the new fees.
