ST. LOUIS • Prosecutors today charged a St. Louis man in a road rage shooting death of a man two weeks ago.

John L. Dailey, 32, of the 5400 block of Claxton Avenue in St. Louis, was charged with first-degree murder, first-degree assault and two counts of armed criminal action. He was jailed Wednesday without bail.

Police said Dailey shot Christopher Walton-Jones, 19, of the 8500 block of Concord Place during a quarrel between people in two moving vehicles in the 8500 block of North Broadway.

The shooting happened about 10:30 p.m. Sept. 21 near Hickey Park.

According to court documents, a woman had been driving a vehicle with Walton-Jones in the front seat when Dailey turned onto North Broadway from Wall Street in a dark pickup truck and nearly hit her car.

The woman yelled at Dailey to slow down and then quarreled with him, police said. As she drove away, Dailey fired a shot through the rear window of the woman's car, hitting Walton-Jones under his armpit, police said.

He was taken to a hospital, where he died. The woman was not hurt.

The woman and another witness to the shooting identified Dailey in a lineup, police said.
