Join Linda Wilson of the Missouri Department of Transportation, Todd Waelterman of the St. Louis Streets Division and David Wrone of the St. Louis County Department of Highways and Traffic each Wednesday at 1 p.m. for the Road Crew, an online chat about area traffic and transportation issues. Submit questions at stltoday.com/chat. Transcripts of past discussions are available. Here is an excerpt:

MDG: Once the new Interstate 70 bridge is completed, what will the section of highway south of the new bridge to the Poplar Street Bridge (the depressed section) be designated? Something like I-570?

Linda Wilson: The plan right now is to have the section from the Poplar Street Bridge to the new I-70 bridge designated I-44. Currently I-44 ends at I-55. We will extend the signing of I-44 with I-55 and have it end at the new I-70 bridge.

Curt Albrecht: Construction has started on the Long Road/Wildhorse Creek Road project. Is there an updated time frame for completion and will the intersection itself or Long or Wildhorse be shut down completely at any point in time?

David Wrone: This project is scheduled to be completed by late spring/early summer of 2013. The intersection of westbound Wildhorse Creek to southbound Kehrs Mill will close for 30 days, effective June 15, to allow for the installation of a new box culvert (basically, a small bridge over a creek). Motorists will have to use alternate routes to circumvent this closure — most likely Clarkson and/or Eatherton. Please attend our Jan. 25 open house, from 6 to 8 p.m., at Chesterfield City Hall, 690 Chesterfield Parkway West, to learn more about this project.

LambeauHeaven: I'm not sure who maintains this particular intersection, but I have a question regarding the intersection of Holloway Road and Manchester Road. Traveling southbound on Holloway and then turning westbound on Manchester isn't usually too tough of a task. However, when the eastbound lanes of Manchester have a left arrow, why isn't there a right turn arrow for Holloway? Some drivers get confused and do not proceed, even when safe to do so. More just a question out of curiosity than a complaint.

Linda Wilson: Unfortunately we only have two signal heads at Holloway and those are for the traffic turning left to eastbound Manchester. The right turn to westbound Manchester has an island with a yield, so it doesn't need a signal control. You are correct that when eastbound Manchester has the left arrow, the southbound Holloway traffic turning right should be able to freely proceed through the yielding right. You are just dealing with the comfort factor and hesitation of some drivers.
