ST. CHARLES COUNTY • Signs honoring the late Darrell B. Roegner, a longtime banker and civic leader who died last November, will be installed Friday along Highway 40 (Interstate 64.)

The Missouri Department of Transportation will put up the signs - one on each side of the highway - after an unveiling ceremony at 10 a.m. at a commuter lot near the 40/64 interchange with Highway 94.

The Legislature earlier this year voted to designate a 2.5-mile stretch of the road as the Darrell B. Roegner Memorial Highway. Private donations paid for the marking signs.

Roegner at different times headed the boards of the Salvation Army of St. Charles County, the St. Charles Community College Foundation and Partners for Progress of Greater St. Charles.

He also was on the boards of Barnes-Jewish Hospital St. Peters, the Tri-County YMCA and Habitat for Humanity.
