ST. CHARLES COUNTY • A St. Charles County man already convicted of threatening officials pleaded guilty today to aggravated stalking and animal abuse, both felonies, and was sentenced in St. Charles County Circuit Court to four years in prison.
Alexander V. Long, 23, also pleaded guilty to misdemeanor animal abuse and two counts of misdemeanor harassment.
Earlier this week, Long, of St. Charles County, was sentenced to 41 months in prison for federal charges related to threats against a St. Charles County judge, the judge's daughter, prosecutors and an employee of the sheriff's office.
Long is to get credit for time served on the state charges and the sentence will not add additional prison time, his attorney Richard Lozano said. Long's schizophrenia was undiagnosed at the time of the offenses, Lozano said.
Long was sentenced by St. Louis Circuit Court Judge John Garvey, because St. Charles County judges had recused themselves from the case.
Long admitted sending threats by mail and over Facebook saying he would rape, stab and beat a judge's daughter and threatening the others — including Prosecuting Attorney Jack Banas, prosecutor Gwendolyn Goeke and the girl's father — during the investigation. Related state charges say Long harassed the girl online, became "very angry" at efforts to block his messages and began issuing threats.
The animal abuse charges are related to videos investigators found on Long's computer of Long abusing his dog, officials said. The harassment charges in the state case applied to the judge's daughter.
