Not only bad for Missouri, Blunt is bad for the environment
I was not surprised to read that Blunt is raising more money than Carnahan. I mean he does have the big oil companies to fill his coffers. According to the The Center for Responsive Politics, Blunt has been one of the top recipients of oil and gas money in the last two cycles. We should particularly pay attention to his record as debate in Congress continues about cap and trade legislation. These oil companies haven't supported Blunt just because they think he's a nice guy -- they believe his votes and actions will line up with their interests, including any measures meant to reign in greenhouse gases.
Blunt also denies that humans have anything to do with climate change, and has a demonstrated record of misleading the public on the climate change legislation.
In 1998, DeLay put Blunt on the leadership ladder, making him chief deputy whip. Blunt modeled himself on DeLay, creating an identical network of state and federal political committees that raised money from the same lobbyists, corporations and trade associations that financed what became known as DeLay Inc.
Another crook, and enemy of our environment, Tod Delay has close ties to blunt. Rep. Roy Blunt and the man he wants to succeed as House majority leader, Tom DeLay, shared similar connections to convicted lobbyist Jack Abramoff and to corporate lobbyists. The League of Conservation Voters released its annual "Dirty Dozen" list of U.S. lawmakers who consistently vote against clean energy and the environment yesterday and Missouri's Roy Blunt was among the dirtiest.
The group says Blunt, a Republican from the southwest corner of the state, is one of the least green Congressman in office -- unless you count the green he receives in the form of campaign contributions from oil and gas companies.
Republican, Democrat, Independent- it shouldn't matter.
Blunt's record should make us all sick.
He truly is the worst of Washington.
