Regarding "Komen cuts off Planned Parenthood" (Feb. 1): I wish Susan G. Komen for the Cure organization had not prematurely withdrawn its funding of Planned Parenthood for breast exams for low-income women. Zealots can instigate bogus investigations forever; there has been no proof of any wrongdoing by Planned Parenthood.

I wish the Post-Dispatch's article had noted that the "array of other services, including birth control, testing for sexually transmitted diseases and cancer screening" represent 97 percent of what Planned Parenthood does. Planned Parenthood provides the only access to health care that some women - and men - have.

There are living, breathing women today who will die in the future because of a lack of early detection of breast cancer. The anti-choice faction focuses obliviously on the alleged future rights of zygotes, ignoring the rights and health of living women. The self-styled "pro-life" people need to own their responsibility for the future deaths of the women whose health and lives they jeopardize today.
