CASE 42
C is a bright 10-year-old whose family — mom and dad and three sisters, ages 16, 5 and 2 — lost everything in a recent house fire. C is an eager student but needs a new pair of glasses to see the smartboard at school. Meanwhile, Mom and Dad are unemployed and behind on their electric ($774), gas ($939) and rent ($895). The family would welcome a cash gift to help pay for C's glasses and the utilities, along with a decent used sofa and chair. And a gift of two bicycles and a few toys would make Christmas happy for a family that has had a rough year.
CASE 43
Mrs. G lost her job because she missed too many days healing from the physical abuse heaped on her by her ex-husband. Without the job, she needs help caring for her four children ages 4-17. The only income they have now is a small amount of child support and food stamps. They need help with rent, food and clothing as she tries to get back to work. The family will accept gift cards and preowned clothing.
