CASE 58
Mrs. Z, 38, is a refugee from Afghanistan whose world fell apart when her husband drowned this summer. She had a job, but her grief since his death has prevented her from working. She has two sons, ages 8 and 3, and the family has fallen behind on bills. She asks for a bike for her oldest son, gift certificates for toys and clothing and for help paying her $600 monthly rent and utility bills.
CASE 59
W is 21 and struggling to escape his desperate situation. He has a developmental disability, newborn twins, no permanent home and no job, and thus no steady income. On top of all this, he’s seeking rehabilitation from a drug addiction; however, he has been clean several months and is busy trying to earn his GED. W could use any assistance, especially for his children, but would like help finding housing and especially wants to buy nice clothes for job interviews.
