The Missouri Department of Transportation is holding an open house today at Lodge Des Peres to review plans for additional lanes on a stretch of Interstate 270.
MoDOT plans to add a fifth northbound lane to relieve traffic congestion between Interstate 44 and Manchester Road. It will add a fifth southbound lane between Dougherty Ferry Road and I-44.
Work is expected to begin later this year and is likely to take two years to complete. The new lanes will be narrower - at 11 feet - than the standard 12-foot-wide highway lanes.
The public can attend the open house from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at the Lodge Des Peres, 1050 Des Peres Road. MoDOT will display its preliminary construction plans.
