K&S Associates Awarded $10.2 Million Design-Build Contract to Build Squadron Operations Facility at Scott Air Force Base

May 27, 2008, St. Louis, Missouri ...The United States Army Corps of Engineers, Louisville District, has awarded a $10.2 million Design/Build contract to K&S Associates, Inc. of St. Louis (http://www.ksgcstl.com/) to construct a new C-9C and C-40 Squadron Operations Facility and, also, a Contractor Logistics Support Parts Storage Facility at Scott Air Force Base near Belleville, Illinois, about 20 miles southeast of St. Louis.

 

The new, 52,000 square-foot facility at Scott Air Force Base will accommodate mission support and staffing for the U. S. Air Force 932nd Airlift Wing's C-9c and C-40 airlift squadrons, and also accommodate space for maintenance parts storage for contractor logistics support.  The facility will include administrative, training and briefing areas, as well as a squadron Command Post, Life Support Area, Crisis Action Team offices, warehouse space and a hazardous materials storage area.

 

K&S Associates' Design/Build unit is partnering with architecture and engineering firm Woolpert, Inc. of Fairview Heights, Illinois on the project, which is scheduled for completion in December 2009. The 932nd Airlift Wing is an Air Force Reserve unit at Scott Air Force Base whose mission is to transport dignitaries such as the First Lady, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, senators, congressmen and other high-ranking government and military officials; the 932nd also supports aero-medical evacuation missions.  Scott Air Force Base is home to the 375th Airlift Wing and the Air Mobility Command Showcase Wing, which is engaged globally by providing priority airlift, aero-medical evacuation, combat support and medical expertise. The 375th Airlift Wing is also host to the18th Air Force, Air Mobility Command, U.S. Transportation Command, and their global missions.

 

The Louisville District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, one of the more diverse districts in the U.S., has both a civil works and military construction mission.  The District's military construction mission supports U.S. Army, Air Force and Department of Defense facilities within 306,000 square miles in a five-state area. The civil works boundary encompasses nearly 76,000 square miles of the Lower Ohio River Basin.
