Missouri Civil War Museum Debuts New Web Site
New Site Features Historic Building Restoration, Planned Museum and Library
ST. LOUIS, June 2, 2008 - While the Missouri Civil War Museum is restoring its historic building, it has also done some renovation work on its Web site to give it a more polished look and add more information about Missouri Civil War history. The re-designed Web site is located at www.mcwm.org.
The site features the restoration work on the 103 year-old Museum building at 222 Worth Road at the Jefferson Barracks National Historic Site. There are Web pages for both the interior and exterior of the building that contain photographs and descriptions of the restoration work and mark the reconstruction progress. There is also information about the history of Jefferson Barracks and a timeline of the historic 1905 Post Exchange Building that is the home of the Missouri Civil War Museum.
"The new Web site is a nice upgrade for us. It has a very polished, professional look. We're excited about the new look and the way the site is organized. We think it will be a great way to tell our story," said Mark Trout, chairman of the Missouri Civil War Museum. "The new site will focus on the restoration of our building and it will give people a good idea of the progress we're making in establishing this much needed educational institution."
"People are always asking about how things are coming along with restoring our building," said Trout. "Now they can go to our Web site and see the changes taking place on both the inside and outside of our building and how we're moving forward."
The site will be updated on a regular basis with current building restoration photos as well as new articles about Missouri Civil War history on the "Education" page. The new site is more colorful and has more photographs than the old site. The way the new site is organized should make it easy to navigate and find information quickly.
The Missouri Civil War Museum is a 501 (c) (3) not-for-profit educational institution located at historic Jefferson Barracks. The organization was incorporated in 2002 to save the historic Jefferson Barracks 1905 Post Exchange Building and convert it into what will become Missouri's largest and finest Civil War museum, library, and educational center. The purpose of the Missouri Civil War Museum is to educate the public of the true aspects and history of the American Civil War and its relevance to the state of Missouri.
