Celebrate Leap Day Weekend At the Saint Louis Zoo

St. Louis, MO -- Strap on your frog legs, pack your flies, and hop over to the Saint Louis Zoo for a Leap Day Weekend of amphibian fun! Friday, February 29 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday, March 1 and 2 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., the Zoo will offer fun kids' activities, new exhibits, live entertainment and more!

Explore the new "Awesome Amphibians" exhibit in The Living World, opening February 29 at 10:30 a.m. See a pair of Chinese giant salamanders, visit the bullfrog tadpole pool, participate in our "Frog Chorus" by adding your croaky voice to a cacophony of calls, and investigate the awesome world of amphibians.

Feel like an amphibian by engaging in some "toadally" cool activities in The Living World and at Lakeside Crossing:
Myths & Legends - Learn how amphibians have played a role in human cultures around the world, and test your amphibian aptitude.
Toad Abode - Create a habitat for our hopping friends, and take it home to your own backyard!
Happy Hoppers - Can you jump as far as a spring peeper? Try out your frog legs at the "Jump Rug."
Amphibian Foods - Using a sticky "tongue," see if you have what it takes to be an amphibian predator.
Slimy Survivors (Saturday and Sunday only) - Toss a beanbag to determine what an amphibian needs to survive in biomes around the world.

Get your froggy boogie on, because Bob Case with his Bullfrog Blues will be live with energetic frogtastic songs and swings in the lower rotunda of The Living World on Saturday and Sunday from 12 noon to 3 p.m. Stop by Build-A-Bear Workshop® At The Zoo to make Friendly Frog, a new friend who's hopping in for a limited time to celebrate Leap Day.

Jump over to the Emerson Children's Zoo to discover several new exhibits. Kids can crawl through the Frog Surround to see tree frogs above them, climb about a tree house, learn how to attract frogs to the garden, touch live animals and much more. Admission to Children's Zoo is free from 9-10 a.m. and $4 per person after 10 a.m.

Admission to the Zoo and Leap Day Weekend activities is free.  Children must be accompanied by an adult.  All activities and games are designed for kids with ages 2-10.  No reservations are needed.

The Zoo, including Awesome Amphibians, is open daily from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
