Alton, Illinois... Nickelodeon, the number one entertainment brand for kids, Alton Square and Junior Leagues' Kid's in the Kitchen invites kids to meet Tyrone, star of Nickelodeon's popular animated series The Backyardigans, on March 28 at Alton Square Mall. The Nickelodeon costumed character will be in JCPenney court for twenty-minute intervals from 11:00am to 2:00pm. Customers are invited to bring their cameras to take pictures with Tyrone. The first 200 visitors receive a gift bag filled with goodies and valuable coupons from Alton Square Mall stores.
In addition, the Alton Junior League will provide various activities accompanied with a healthy snack.
Also, Alton Square Mall and The Telegraph are hosting an exciting Tyrone Coloring Contest. The contest will begin March 6 and will run through March 28. The coloring contest forms will run in The Telegraph beginning March 6. Contest forms are also available at the Alton Square Mall Customer Service Center. All entries will hang at the main entrance across from the US Post Office and judging will take place through March 28. The top winners from three age categories will receive a Tyrone gift package.

The top-rated half-hour animated series airs regularly Monday through Friday on Nick Jr. at 10:30 a.m. (ET/PT). Each half-hour episode of The Backyardigans features a unique music/dance genre with four original songs, along with real choreographed movements recreated in animation.
On The Backyardigans, the five high-spirited neighbors meet in their adjoining backyards and use their imaginations to transform themselves into different locations for epic adventures.
