O'Fallon, Mo. - The O'Fallon Historical Society's Log Cabin Museum in Civic Park will be open for tours from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 7 and Sunday, Sept. 21. The museum will also be open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 11 during the O'Fallon Fall Festival and Craft Bazaar. The museum's address is 305 Second Street. Admission is free, but donations are welcome.
Museum exhibits were changed this year to display "new" items from the City's 152 years of history. The collection includes many Wabash railroad items, 1870s - 1890s clothing, an immigrant's trunk from Germany, a folding bed for covered wagon travel, a Victrola "talking machine," a portable organ used at weddings and funerals, 1950s beauty parlor equipment, vintage photos, and more.
Items sold at the museum include the O'Fallon Historical Society's 2009 calendar of vintage homes, an illustrated, hardcover history book, O'Fallon, Missouri, a Good Place to Live 1856-2006, and O'Fallon Sesquicentennial souvenirs. Directions to the Log Cabin Museum - On I-70 in O'Fallon, take Exit 217 at highways K/M (Main Street). Turn north on Main and drive about one-half mile (getting into left lane); after crossing railroad tracks make an immediate left onto Civic Park Drive; drive one block and turn right on Mary Street; drive one block and turn left on Second Street; continue to the museum, which is at the end of the street in Civic Park.
