Historical Society Selling 2008 Calendars

O'Fallon, Mo. - The O'Fallon Historical Society is once again offering a calendar full of treasured old photographs and tidbits of historical information. The 2008 calendar features sepia-toned photos of many of O'Fallon's oldest homes, some "gone but not forgotten" and some still among us. The calendar also includes the story behind the Historical Society's log cabin museum in Civic Park and a brief biography of the city's founder and builder of the home that is believed to be O'Fallon's first, Nicholas Krekel. The Historical Society's calendar was made possible through the support of several local businesses: Angels on Duty, Luetkenhaus Century 21, Assist2Sell and Mick's Exterminating. The calendars sell for $5 and make a great stocking stuffer or last-minute gift. They can be found at several businesses around town, namely First State Bank, Best Teachers Supply, People's Bank, Randy's Jewelry, True Value Hardware, Hair Happening Beauty Shop, Rendezvous Café, Wabash Realty and at the Chamber of Commerce office. Or, you can purchase your calendar by contacting Cheryl Hibbeler at 636 272-8160.

It's not too late to purchase a copy of "O'Fallon: A Good Place to Live" for the hard-to-buy-for people on your list. This 144-page hard cover book has over 200 photos and personal stories documenting O'Fallon's first 150 years, making it a wonderful gift they will treasure for years to come. The book sells for $25 and you can contact Lewis Swinger, president of the O'Fallon Historical Society at 636 240-4588 to purchase a copy.
