ST. LOUIS, March 7 , 2008 - Adamson received seven St. Louis ADDY Awards and seven certificates of excellence in the Advertising Club of St. Louis's annual "ADDY Awards" program. The awards were announced at the club's recent 2007 ADDY Award Show in St. Louis.
Adamson's broadcast and online campaign for the Missouri Lottery Holiday Scratchers game received the ADDY in the category of Mixed Media (Cross Platform) Campaigns. The campaign featured the Island of Messed Up Gifts, the mythical home of less-than-desirable gifts that have been replaced by Holiday Scratchers tickets.
In two television spots, down-on-their-luck characters such as Tacky Coffee Mug, Hideous Tie and Frog-Shaped Soap Dispenser discussed how Lottery Scratchers tickets replaced them as popular gifts. A video game designed and developed by Adamson creative team members featured the same concept. The game appeared on the Lottery Web site and was e-mailed to the Lottery's database of 160,000 frequent players. To score points, players used a selection of devices including a catapult, a slingshot and an ogre's arm to launch the TV spot characters onto the Island of Messed Up Gifts.
The Island of Messed Up Gifts series of two television spots received the ADDY for best Television Campaign. The ‘Intro" and "Frog" TV spots also received ADDYs in the category of Regional/National TV Single Spots, while the "Intro" spot also received the ADDY for best Sound Design.
Taking the ADDY in the Out-of-Home - Campaign category was a series of outdoor Billboards developed by Adamson for Clear Channel Communications. The billboards offer a humorous take on the "new country" format of Clear Channel radio station 93.7 - The Bull. They show the new country version of cowboy boots (a pair of flip-flops), a pick-up truck (a red convertible) and a cowboy hat (a baseball cap). The "Boots" billboard also received the ADDY in the single-entry Outdoor Board category, while "Cowboy Hat" and "Truck" received single-entry certificates of excellence.
Bringing Adamson additional certificates of excellence were posters for Clear Channel Communications featuring the 93.7 - The Bull "new country" brand. "Text", "Sweet Potato" and "Microbrew" received a certificate of excellence in the Poster - Campaign category, with each poster also receiving an individual certificate of excellence in the Poster - Single category. Offering humorous updates to well-known country music song lyrics, the posters feature the lines, "Here's A Quarter, Text Someone Who Cares"; "Fat-Free Sweet Potato Pie and I Shut My Mouth"; and "There's A Tear in My Microbrew."
Adamson also received a certificate of excellence in the category of Regional/National TV Single Spots, for the Missouri Lottery "Raffle/Lost" TV ad. A sad-eyed office worker copies "lost" fliers and begins posting them along the street, drawing attention to the lost opportunity to purchase tickets in the Lottery's Million-Dollar Raffle game, which were rapidly selling out as the spot aired. The modern version of a traditional raffle offered $10 tickets from November 12, 2007 until the 250,000 available tickets sold out January 19.
