Fitzmaurice Performance Raises $5000 at 1st Annual "Train the Trainer" Day for St. Jude Children's Research Hospital

April 4, 2008 - St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and Fitzmaurice Performance, located in Ellisville, MO, teamed up their first annual "Train the Trainer" weekend to benefit St. Jude Children's Research Hospital on 3/28 and 3/29.  Mr. Shawn Fitzmaurice agreed to coordinate the program.

For 2 days, 3/28 and 3/29, rather than clients pay their usual fees to their personal trainer to put them through an hour long, grueling workout, clients had the option to make a donation to St. Jude for the opportunity to "Train their Trainer" instead.

"This was a great opportunity for our clients to payback their trainer for the years of exhausting workouts we put them through." said Shawn Fitzmaurice, owner of Fitzmaurice Performance.  "The feedback and response we received this year were so positive, we have decided to make this an annual event with St. Jude.  Not only did we raise money for a great cause, but everyone that participated had a great time."

St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is internationally recognized for its pioneering work in finding cures and saving children with cancer and other catastrophic diseases.  Founded by the late entertainer, Danny Thomas, and based in Memphis, TN, St. Jude freely shares its discoveries with scientific and medical communities around the world.  No family ever pays for treatments not covered by insurance, and families without insurance are never asked to pay.  St. Jude is financially supported by ALSAC, its fund-raising organization.  In 1962 when the hospital opened, acute lymphoblastic leukemia, the most common form of childhood leukemia, was only survived by four percent of our patients; the current cure rate is now 85%.  For more information please visit http://www.stjude.org/.

The money raised during this 2 day event will help to ensure that children with cancer and other life-threatening diseases will have a better chance to live.  To participate in this exciting, beneficial program, registration information is available by contacting Fitzmaurice Performance.
