Parameter Security presents cyber security Webinar for small businesses

April 14, 2008: ST. PETERS - Individuals today are painfully aware of the possibility of identity theft, and its repercussions. But the responsibility of keeping client information from being stolen can keep small-business owners up at night.

Parameter Security(tm), a St. Peters-based ethical-hacking firm, will present a one-hour Webinar entitled "Is Information Security Keeping You Up at Night?" from noon to 1 p.m. (Central) on Wednesday, April 16. Registration costs $50.

The Webinar will teach participants ways hackers gain access to secure information, such as personal information and employee and customer data. The Webinar also will provide tips on what to look out for and how to better protect businesses and their information.

"Small businesses are a hacker's dream," said Parameter Security President Dave Chronister. "Hackers target small businesses because they think small businesses don't prioritize information security, and unfortunately, in some cases, that is true."

Hackers know small-business owners typically have an "I don't have anything they'd want" mentality, and they prey on it, Chronister said. With only minimal security measures, a small business is vulnerable to attack.

As an ethical-hacking firm, Parameter Security provides a variety of services, including network penetration audits, vulnerability assessments and security awareness training. Parameter's certified ethical hackers simulate actual cyber attacks on an organization by emulating malicious hackers to see how far they can penetrate the network and exploit findings.

Parameter Security holds similar seminars and Webinars periodically throughout the year. For more information or to register for April's Webinar, call Parameter at 314-442-0472 or e-mail events@parametersecurity.com.
