ALTON SQUARE MALL MAJOR RENOVATION

PROJECT KICKS OFF

Alton, Illinois............... Alton Square Mall and Coyote Management, L.P. have finalized the preliminary renovation work that prepared the mall for a total face lift this summer. Coyote announced in February that they would begin renovating the 30 year old mall and bring it back to its once viable state starting in Spring 08.  The mall has replaced one-third of the air conditioning units, conducted extensive roof and skylight repairs and updated the escalators. This preliminary work was critical prior to the aesthetic portion of the renovation beginning, which includes new paint, new flooring throughout the mall, redesigned mall entrances, enhanced court areas to include soft seating, carpet, new landscaping, updated lighting and acrylic laminate panels. 

Portions of the next renovation phase have begun. In mid-May, the demolition work began at all entrances as they prepare to update them with a more modern and sophisticated look. In addition, new sand colored field tile with a chocolate brown border and glossy black accents are currently being layed on the first floor. There will be carpet placed in JCPenney court, Macy's court and in strategic locations throughout the lower level. Flooring construction began mid-June on lower level of the mall. The second level will begin by early August and all flooring work will be complete by December.
