St. Louis, MISSOURI - 7/29/09 -- New Horizons Computer Learning Centers, the world's largest independent IT training provider, hosted "Stretch Your Training Budget" at its St. Louis location, located at 2122 Kratky Road on Tuesday, 7/29/09.
The program covered two resources that businesses can use to expand their training budget. Pat Tuttle, who serves as a Project Manager at St. Louis Community College's Center for Business, Industry, and Labor, spoke about the Missouri Customized Training Program and how companies can take advantage of the program. The program, which has been around for 25 years, has funded training efforts for one of the companies in attendance at today's seminar, for the past 10 years.
Bonnie Mireles, Business Services Manager with SLATE Missouri Career Center, continued the conversation with information about the Department of Labor's Apprenticeship Program. This program combines on-the-job training and related instruction in which employees learn the practical and theoretical aspects of a skilled occupation. Information about funding for the Apprenticeship Program is expected to be released in October; however, companies are encouraged to prepare now for the application process.
"We are proud to have offered this seminar to our customers, especially at a time like this. We believe this helped businesses learn how to maximize government-allocated resources, as well as understand how proper training can transform business operations," said Rachel Jackson, of New Horizons of St. Louis.
