St. Louis, Mo. (August 24, 2009) - The success of this spring's residential rebate program has led Sheet Metal Workers' Local 36 and the St. Louis chapter of the Sheet Metal and Air Conditioning Contractors' National Association (SMACNA) to re-introduce the program for fall furnace and air conditioning service and replacement.
In a time where the cost of heating and cooling homes is constantly on the rise, Local 36 and SMACNA are offering a series of rebates now through September 30, 2009 for consumers looking to service their air conditioner or furnace and for those installing a new residential air conditioner or furnace to transform their home into a more energy efficient one.
"The program proved to be an overwhelming success this spring with hundreds of homeowners updating and replacing their cooling systems," said Butch Welsch, Chairman of SMACNA's Labor Committee and President of Welsch Heating and Cooling. "We felt that with the cool weather season fast approaching and many people looking to service their furnace there was no reason not to bring the program back."
The rebates include:
- A rebate of $25 to any homeowner who signs up for an "Annual Maintenance Agreement" by September 30, 2009. Agreement includes two service appointments.
- A rebate of $125 to any homeowner who has a furnace or air conditioner replaced before September 30, 2009. The rebates will be given for a maximum of two units per residential address.
Additionally, Local 36 is reminding customers that anyone who installs certain high efficiency air conditioning and furnace systems in 2009 will still be eligible for a tax credit. The systems eligible for credit and the amount of credit vary so check with your tax advisor about your eligibility and other details.
"The decision to bring back the program for the fall was an easy one," said Local 36 President and Business Manager David C. Zimmermann. "The program provides homeowners with financial incentives and also gives them a chance to become more efficient while creating business for Local 36 and our contractors."
