Since 1986, Jeffrey L. Bruce & Co. (JBC) has demonstrated a firm grasp of master planning, site design, landscape architecture, recreation planning and urban design in projects that pioneer emerging green technologies.  Early projects included the awarding winning landscape development of the Kansas City International Airport as well as repeated projects on the campus of the University of Missouri/Columbia.  In more recent years, Land3 Studio, a subsidiary of JBC, was opened to focus on regional design solutions.

Most recently, JBC assisted Nelson Byrd Woltz Landscape Architects out of Charlottesville, VA, with the design and construction phase implementation of Citygarden in St. Louis, Missouri, providing turf and engineered soils consulting to design the sub-drainage, turf system and soil mix for the natural turf and plant material surfaces. Both JBC and Land 3 have designed athletic fields for over 50 major sports stadiums.  JBC has garnered design awards for such projects as the Kearney Artist Studio for Hallmark Cards, the Nasher Sculpture Garden in Dallas, the Great Lawn at Millennium Park in Chicago and the 909 Walnut Green Roof in Kansas City.  Groundbreaking projects also include designing landscapes on roofs hundreds of feet above the ground and even putting lawn on the deck of a cruise ship.

"A landscape conveys meaning through the relationship of its spaces," said Jeffrey L. Bruce, President of JBC.  "Our belief is that beauty lies in creating landscapes that not only restore ecological function, but are also in harmony with the site. We are committed to designing landscapes that reflect the historical and philosophical traditions of the community in which the project is located.

"JBC strives to design outdoor spaces that respect the natural surroundings and compliment its built neighbors," Mr. Bruce continued.  "Our reputation is firmly rooted in the belief that quality design can make a distinct difference.  There is evidence in both the natural and built environments to suggest that effective design can make a significant difference in the quality of our lives.  The power of design to transcend and yet connect seemingly unrelated systems and resources lies at the heart of our combined abilities to leave a sustainable imprint on communities and a lasting legacy for future generations."

Having designed sustainable solutions for high-use areas such as public parks, rooftop gardens and sports arenas, the company's water conservation and soil engineering expertise is well known.
