Summer is winding down.  Days are getting shorter and back to school shopping has begun.  Unfortunately, that means school is just around the corner.

Nannies, babysitters, and parents before we start talking about alarm clocks and homework, let's enjoy the month of August.

It's not too late for you and the kids to get out and enjoy your favorite Saint Louis summertime activities.  Being a summer nanny is a great job in Saint Louis.  There are countless activities that everyone can enjoy.  Kids love going on "field trips" and parents love happy calm kids at the end of the day.   Remember to always get permission from your employers before going anywhere. 

Here is just a short list of activates that are kid friendly for the summer.

Forest Park.  Of course you should check out the Zoo and Science Center.  But why not just walk around the park.  Enjoy the fountains, the grassy open areas, and the beautiful pavilions for a picnic lunch.

Suson Park.  A little known park in South County off of Tesson Ferry Rd.  This park has a great new playground for kids of all ages.  Not to mention the farm animals in the barn.  At 5:00 p.m. the animals put on a ‘parade' as they walk from the stables to the open field for the night. 

Tower Grove Park.  Located off of South Grand in the city, Tower Grove Park has a great fountain/swimming pool.  Any day of the week you will kids in their suits splashing in the water.   Visit the Palmer House on Wednesdays mornings and sit in on their free Music class for kids. And, if you have to work a Saturday you can visit the Tower Grove Farmers Market. 

Story Hour.  Local book store chains offer Story Hours on a weekly basis.  Kids can listen to the story, eat a little snack, and sing along to their favorite songs.

Your Local Library.  The Saint Louis County Library's have a great summer schedule of free activities.  Some events for the month of August include lap time story hours for the little ones, family movies, musicians and arts and craft activities.
