PARKS DEPARTMENT FEATURES SEVERAL PROGRAMS
TO RECOGNIZE NATIONAL TRAILS DAY JUNE 6
St. Charles County Parks Department - To honor National Trails Day on June 6, the St. Charles County Parks Department is offering several free activities at Indian Camp Creek Park. The Department will present its Saddle Up and Ride for horse enthusiasts, a Twilight Tour hike, and a Moonlight Mountain Bike Ride as a part of the event designed to celebrate trail systems throughout the United States.
At 10:30 a.m., the Saddle Up and Ride program will depart from the Equestrian Parking Lot and feature a leisurely ride along the park's 10-mile, multi-use trail. Participants may either join the guided group ride or enjoy the park on their own. Guests must provide their own horse, safety equipment, and snacks. Additional Saddle Up and Ride programs are planned July 12, Aug. 2, Sept. 13, Oct. 4, and Nov. 1; all departing at 10:30 a.m.
The Twilight Tour is a guided evening hike featuring the sights and sounds of the night. Departing at 7:30 p.m., from the Lakeside Pavilion, the two-hour walk will present a spectacular sunset and introduce the park by the light of the full moon. Guests should bring a flashlight, bug spray, and water. Additional Twilight Tour programs are planned at several County parks throughout the spring, summer, and fall.
Open to experienced cyclists, the Moonlight Mountain Bike Ride will begin at 8:30 p.m., and continue until midnight. Led by the light of the full moon, riders can join a guided group ride or take out on their own from the Lakeside Pavilion. Participants must wear a helmet while riding and have a light attached to their bike. For additional Moonlight Mountain Bike Rides planned in the parks this year, please visit www.stccparks.org.
Pre-registration for each of these programs is encouraged, although walk-up participants will be accepted. To register, please visit www.stccparks.org or call (636) 949-7535.
