St. Louis, Mo. - The St. Louis Rams and National City are inviting nominations of breast cancer survivors to join in a special on-field tribute to the fight against breast cancer at the Sept. 28 Rams game.
One hundred exceptional survivors will be chosen to help form a giant pink ribbon on the field during halftime of the Rams' contest against the Buffalo Bills. Celebrating the courage and strength of all who have battled breast cancer, this is the third year for this tribute which touched the hearts of thousands of fans.
In addition, each of the 100 survivors chosen will receive two free tickets to the game and, with their guest, will be invited to attend a special reception at the Edward Jones Dome the week before the game. Each survivor will receive a special gift to commemorate the occasion.
Survivors can be nominated by going to www.NationalCity.com/StLouisNomination. Deadline for nominations is Thursday, July 31.
The halftime ceremony is part of National City's ongoing "Real Men Wear Pink" campaign, promoting breast cancer awareness and featuring Rams linebacker Will Witherspoon as spokesperson. National City is among the sponsors of the June 21 Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure in St. Louis.
"There are two million breast cancer survivors in America-enough to fill the Edwards Jones Dome 30 times over," said Witherspoon. "The survivors we're honoring are a small handful of those who command our respect and admiration."
The "Real Men Wear Pink" campaign is part of National City's comprehensive program to fight breast cancer. Through the sale of its Diamond Edition checking and credit card products, a portion of each transaction goes to the National Breast Cancer Foundation. Since inception, the Diamond Edition products have enabled National City to donate more than $2.5 million to the Foundation, whose mission is to save lives by raising awareness of breast cancer through education and providing mammograms for those in need.
