St. Louis Area Students to Receive Scholarship Awards at University of Wisconsin Gateway Badger’s Student Send-Off Celebration

ST. LOUIS, MO. - Two of the eighteen St. Louis area students who are enrolled as freshmen at the University of Wisconsin-Madison this fall will receive scholarships this year, thanks to the efforts of the Gateway Badgers, the local chapter of the Wisconsin Alumni Association (WAA).  This is in keeping with the long tradition of volunteer and financial support of current students at the University of Wisconsin-Madison by its alumni and friends.

The incoming students and their parents will meet WAA chapter leaders, scholarship committee members, other alumni, as well as continuing students and their parents at the annual Badger Student Send-Off Celebration, which will be held on Sunday, August 9, 2009, from 1:30 - 3:30 p.m. at Llywelyn's Pub, 17 Moody, Webster Groves, MO.  Carol Simpson (University City High School) and Thomas Stava (Eureka High School), who are being awarded the 2009 WAA scholarships, will be recognized at this event.

The other local students in the UW Class of 2013 are:  Montee Ball (Wentzville), Jasmine Boyer (Fort Zumwalt West), Nils Carlsson (University City), Jordyn Coad (Lafayette), Annie E (Parkway Central), Sarah Edwards (Kirkwood), Leslie Epstein (MICDS), John Gist (St John Vianny), Kelly Hummell (Clayton), Edward Ignaczak (Christian Brothers College HS), James Mahood (Gateway Institute of Technology HS), Grant Nicholas (John Burrows), John Ramage (Marquette/Pioneer HS in Ann Arbor, MI), Jessica Shen (Clayton), Hye-Min Shin (Parkway Central), Ian Stotlemeyere (Webster).
