Beta Theta Pi of Washington University Wins Big at National Convention

 St. Louis, MO-September 18, 2009

This past August, Beta Theta Pi held it’s 170th General Convention in Phoenix, Arizona at the Biltmore Resort and Spa. In attendance at this conference were 4 members of Washington University’s Alpha Iota Chapter of Beta Theta Pi, amongst hundreds of other current Betas, alumni, and supporters of the fraternity.

The convention is held to update delegates of the current state of the fraternity and also allows participants to have a voice in the decisions that affect the General Fraternity on a national scale.

The Convention is also a way to recognize the tremendous efforts and achievements of Beta Theta Pi chapters throughout the previous year. This year, the Washington University’s Alpha Iota Chapter received a total of five awards. The chapter received two awards for leadership development efforts, one of which was for most initiative overall in that area.

Moreover, the Alpha Iota Chapter won another award for its outstanding recruitment program along with one for the chapter’s dedicated involvement and leadership in the Washington University Community at large.

Lastly, the chapter won it’s eighth Sisson Award, an award given to each chapter that meets the high expectations set by the General Fraternity in all aspects of chapter life: academics, member education, community service, leadership development, communication, and recruitment.
