LIONS ROAMING THE STREETS
Members of the area Lions Club will take to the streets of St. Louis city and county, and the entire state on 10/2-10/3 to raise funds as part of the annual Candy Days. Funds donated by community members will be used to screen children's eyes for Amblyopia(Lazy Eye), purchase eye glasses for those in need and support youth programs in the surrounding community.
According to Lion Larry McClellan PR Chairman of St. Louis District M2 Lions Clubs, "Money raised on 9/2-9/3 will allow Lions to meet pressing needs in our community including the rising call for assistance for vision and hearing needs due to today's economy. Lions members thank everyone who contributes to this important work. You are truly helping Lions make a difference in our community."
The Lions Club of St. Louis area District M2 and M3 have approximately 3200 members and meets on different days and times. Lions clubs are a group of men and women who identify needs within the community and work together to fulfill those needs. For more information or to get involved with the Lions Club, please contact Lion Larry McClellan at 314-630-8516 or the District website wwwlions26m2.org.
Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with nearly 1.3 million members in approximately 45,000 clubs in 200 countries and geographical areas around the world. Since 1917, Lions clubs have aided the blind and visually impaired and made a strong commitment to community service and serving youth throughout the world. October also kicks off the LIONS CLUBS INTERNATIONAL "WE SERVE" month. The Lions motto "We Serve" has been the mission of the organization from the beginning for people that are the first to give back to their communities. Lion's main goal is to accept the challenge Helen Keller's challenge from 1925 when she challenged the Lions to "be her Knights in the crusade against blindness". Since then the Lions have saved or restored the sight of millions of people and with your help will continue the crusade today and tomorrow.
