15th Annual Golf Tournament Raises Funds to Support Programs
St. Louis, MO - On August 24, 2009, Family Resource Center (FRC) held their 15th Annual Golf Tournament, an event that raised over $130,000 for prevention and treatment of child abuse in the St. Louis area. During the event, St. Luke's Hospital was honored for their outstanding and sustained support of FRC's golf tournament and programs.
St. Luke's was presented with the 2009 Guardian of the Green Award. The award is given annually a company that supports the golf tournament through advocacy and support in the community, and who is committed to FRC's mission of preventing and treating child abuse and neglect. St. Luke's Hospital became involved with FRC in 1995 with the support of Dr. George Tucker. As a board member and president, his leadership led to the involvement of additional St. Luke's employees, including past president Jan Hess and current Vice President of Programs Laura Holt.
Not only has St. Luke's been a consistent sponsor, but has also brought vendors, friends, and other companies to the tournament. Over the past five years, this commitment has led to $40,000 in direct cash contributions to the golf tournament. The award was accepted by Vice President of Programs Laura Holt and past president and current board member Jan Hess.
The Golf Tournament is held annually each year in August. Over 180 golfers attended the event this year at the Country Club of St. Albans. The event was emceed by KMOX sportscaster Ron Jacober, and was chaired by Tom Ferris of Watlow Electric Manufacturing Company.
