Trivers Completes Washington
University Project
St. Louis, Mo. (July 28, 2008) - Trivers Associates, an architecture and design firm with offices in St. Louis, Mo., and Edwardsville, Ill., recently completed a project for the George Warren Brown School of Social Work at Washington University in St. Louis.
The project, located near Skinker and Delmar on the University's North Campus, involved renovation of the first floor of a building that was once a uniform company. The building housed a variety of University departments and needed to be renovated quickly to create new office and research space for new faculty and staff joining the Brown School.
The 16,200-square-foot project was dispersed over three adjacent but separate areas of the building. Existing conditions such as dramatically sloping floors and irregular floor heights from the spaces to major corridors were other challenges that were met in order to meet a quick turnaround schedule.
"Washington University is an institution that contributes tremendously to field of education, and is continually taking on new initiatives," said Joe Brinkmann, Trivers Vice President & Director of Projects. "We are pleased that we are able to be a part of their continued growth and success."
Trivers was the architect for extensive renovation of Washington University's Wilson Hall, which houses the departments of Biology and Philosophy, the Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology program and the International Center for Advanced Renewable Energy and Sustainability. It is also the architect for an upcoming renovation of Busch Hall, a 1901 historic landmark used as a classroom and office building for some of the university's humanities departments.
