HAREDEE'S ICEPLEX SELECTED TO HOST 24-HOUR HOCKEY GAME

USA Hockey, in cooperation with its affiliates throughout the United States, is staging "USA Hockey's 24-Hour Hockey Game" beginning at 12 noon ET on Friday, Feb. 29, to help celebrate the International Ice Hockey Federation's 100-year anniversary. The Hardee's IcePlex in Chesterfield was chosen by USA Hockey to represent and host the event in Missouri.

"We're very excited about hosting the 24-Hour Game," said Lloyd Ney, General Manager of the Hardee's IcePlex. "Feb. 29 has been designated as the worldwide day to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the IIHF and our 24-Hour Game is a unique and fun way for us to be engaged in the celebration and also bring visibility to our great sport."  Joe Quinn, president of the Chesterfield Hockey Association, stated "we are honored to participate in this event. The sport is booming and the Hardee's IcePlex is the perfect host site."

Each of the lower 48 states will play a 30-minute running-time game in succession, beginning in Maine at 12 noon ET on Feb. 29. The Missouri game at the Hardee's IcePlex occurs at 1:00 am (March 1). Participants include the Chesterfield Peewee A2 versus another local Peewee A2 Team. In each state, one team will be designated as "Stars" and one team as "Stripes." A national running score will be kept at the event website -- 24HourHockeyGame.com.

Each participant will receive a souvenir luggage tag that states, "I Played in USA Hockey's 24-Hour Game."

The Hardee's IcePlex, formerly the Summit Center, is the largest ice sports facility in Missouri with 3 ice rinks. It has hosted many USA Hockey events and will be the site of the 2008 Jr. A National Championships in April, the 2008 US Speed Skating Short Track Championships featuring Apollo Ohno in December 2008 and the 2009 U16 National Championships.
