FREE ALL-STAR CHARITY CONCERT IS GRAND FINALE TO DAY-LONG CELEBRATION OF BASEBALL’S HISTORY AT THE ARCH

The 2009 Major League Baseball All-Star Charity Concert at the Arch marks the culmination of day-long celebration of baseball's historic role in the westward expansion of the United States.

The following activities will take place on the Arch grounds throughout the day on July 11:

  • Beginning at 10:00 a.m. CT - In partnership with the Cardinals Hall of Fame Museum, the National Park Service at the Gateway Arch will host the Baseball's Gateway to the West exhibit at the Arch's Museum of Westward Expansion. The exhibit features artifacts and a historical retrospective celebrating St. Louis' role in making baseball the "national game." (The exhibit will be on display through December 2009.)
  • At 11:00 a.m. CT - The Perfectos, a St. Louis baseball club, will play a "vintage style" baseball game on the Arch grounds. The game will be played by the rules from 1860 with players outfitted in vintage-style uniforms and equipment.
  • At 3:10 p.m. CT - The Cards-Cubs rivalry will play out on the big screen as the Arch airs the St. Louis Cardinals vs. Chicago Cubs on FOX live on big screen televisions at the concert location.
  • At 8:00 p.m. CT - The 2009 Major League Baseball All-Star Charity Concert will begin under the Arch. All visitors will be screened at security checkpoints before entering the Arch grounds.  The following are prohibited: alcohol, glass containers, pets and bicycles.
