Installation has begun at Overland Park Youth Soccer Complex

Overland Park, Kan., Oct. 27, 2008-Installation of the synthetic turf is well underway at what is being slated as the largest synthetic turf soccer park in North America.  ATG Sports Industries, Inc. and McAnany Construction are proud to work together on this venture and to be a part of creating a state-of-the-art soccer complex for the City of Overland Park.  The state of the art project has piqued the interest of the community and the soccer world.  The elite soccer complex features 12 synthetic turf fields with lighting that will be used for tournament play and draw many high profile events to the area.  When completed in the Summer of 2009, the complex will host local, regional and national events.  In fact, the park has already scheduled several tournaments next year and plans to generate more.

McAnany Construction, the general contractor and ATG Sports Industries, the turf contractor have collaborated to bring each of their own expertise to this project and feel honored to be chosen as the contractors to build the dozen fields from the ground up. The state of the art design will conserve 900,000 gallons of water per week and will be built using 100% recycled rubber.  Synthetic turf is not only environmentally friendly but will virtually eliminate cancellations due to weather. The fields are designed to drain several inches of rain per hour to allow safe use during and immediately after heavy rain fall whereas natural grass could not.

Paul Driver CEO of ATG Sports states; when finished, the fields will have 1.2 million square feet of turf filled with 3.8 million pounds of recycled rubber.  Rubber that otherwise would have been sent to a land fill.  ATG Sports is proud to be part of developing environmentally green products.  ATG Sports is perhaps the only company which has developed recycling for its products both when it is new and when it needs replacement.

In addition to the new synthetic turf fields, Overland Park's facility will be an elite recreational center with new parking areas, concession buildings, playgrounds and a multipurpose field house.  This complex will give Overland Park a competitive edge to host many events for years to come.
