Fukudome's error helps Reds defeat Cubs
Kosuke Fukudome's homer tied it in the top of the 8th, but his throwing error in the bottom half of the inning helped Cincinnati rally for a 7-5 win Sunday that completed the Reds' season-long domination of the Chicago Cubs.
Cincinnati won 12 of its 16 games against Chicago this season, its best showing since going 12-5 in 2002. The NL Central leaders have won 11 of their last 15 games overall.
Fukudome's 2-run homer off Arthur Rhodes tied it at 5. His throw from right field skipped into a photographers' booth behind third base in the bottom of the inning, letting in the go-ahead run.
Braves 7, Marlins 6 • Brian McCann hit a game-winning homer with help from video replay, giving Atlanta a victory over Florida. It was the first time a game ended using a video review.
Pinch-hitter Matt Diaz tied it with a 2-run homer off Leo Nunez after Brooks Conrad led off the 9th with a walk. Nunez retired the next 2 hitters, then McCann drove a 1-2 pitch toward the wall in right.
The ball bounced back onto the field, and the umpires initially ruled it was still in play. McCann stopped at second and began arguing that he should have more than a double.
The umpires conferred, then headed toward the Florida dugout to look at a replay, which clearly showed the ball struck the top of the wall — right over McCann's name on an auxiliary scoreboard — and went over. It ricocheted back onto the field off a back wall.
Crew chief Tim McClelland returned to the field, pointed toward McCann — and gave the universal signal for homer.

The source, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the details were still being worked out, expects the deal to be completed today, but whether it's a trade or waiver claim is still to be determined.
Ramirez is batting .311 this season with 8 homers and 40 RBIs but has played in just 66 games due to injuries.
White Sox retire Big Hurt's number • Frank Thomas, who retired in February after a 19-year career in which the 2-time AL MVP hit .301 with 521 homers and 1,704 RBIs, had his No. 35 retired by the Chicago White Sox during an emotional ceremony before their game against the New York Yankees.
The Big Hurt made his major league debut in 1990 and set club marks for homers (448) and RBIs (1,465) before spending his last three seasons with the Toronto Blue Jays and Oakland Athletics.
