The Colorado Rockies acquired pitcher Jeremy Guthrie from the Baltimore Orioles for pitchers Matt Lindstrom and Jason Hammel on Monday.
Guthrie, the Orioles' opening-day starter three of the last four seasons, lost 17 games and finished with a 4.33 ERA last year.
Hammel was 7-13 with a 4.67 ERA in 32 appearances with the Rockies last season, when he shuffled between the rotation and the bullpen. Lindstrom went 2-2 with a 3.00 ERA as a reliever with Colorado last year.
Ankiel returns to Nationals • Washington agreed to a minor-league contract with outfielder Rick Ankiel. The former Cardinal batted .239 with nine home runs and 37 RBIs in 122 games last season for the Nationals.
Red Sox, Aceves agree on deal • Pitcher Alfredo Aceves and Boston agreed to a $1.2 million, one-year contract that avoided salary arbitration. He was 10-2 with a 2.61 ERA and two saves in 51 relief appearances and four starts last year.
Cubs claim Cardenas • The Chicago Cubs claimed infielder Adrian Cardenas off waivers from Oakland and designated infielder Blake DeWitt for assignment. Cardenas hit .314 with 51 RBIs for Class AAA Sacramento; DeWitt batted .265 in 121 games with the Cubs last year.
