JUPITER, Fla. • Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia is set to face teammates today for a second time this spring and what is likely to be his last time before going against a group in another jersey.

Michael Wacha will also face hitters as he preps for his Grapefruit League debut -- which will be Saturday in relief of Trevor Rosenthal.

Here are the pitchers facing batters today:

LHP Jaime Garcia

RHP Eduardo Sanchez

RHP Michael Wacha

LHP Barret Browning

LHP Marc Rzepczynski

RHP Victor Marte

LHP Randy Choate

Matheny described this morning how he imagines using the bullpen in the same way he did at the end of the last season, with the three righties slotted for the final three innings of the game: Mr. Seventh, Edward Mujica; Mr. Eighth, Mitchell Boggs; and the closer Jason Motte for the ninth. The one wrinkle he suggested will be lefty Choate.

The idea is to have him available for those one- or two-batter appearances against lefties that await the Cardinals in later innings.

Say, for example in the Queen City.

"The only wild card you throw into that is Choate," Matheny said. "We get into the seventh, eighth, ninth and we're playing Cincinnati there are a couple lefthanders in there. We'd like for them to have to deal with Randy."

Garcia will face Rafael Furcal, Ronny Cedeno, Tony Cruz, Greg Garcia, and Jesus Montero. Wacha is set to face David Freese, Adron Chambers, Ryan Jackson, Kolten Wong, and Adam Ehrlich.
