MILWAUKEE _ Cardinals starter Jaime Garcia, who entered tonight’s game with a 1.08 earned run average against the Brewers for four starts this season, worked two scoreless innings before being roughed up by the Brewers for three runs in the third.
Rickie Weeks walked with one out and stole second ahead of a strong throw by rookie catcher Matt Pagnozzi. With two out, Ryan Braun singled to center to even the score at 1-1. Prince Fielder then hit a double which bounced over the center-field wall and Braun had to stop at third.
Braun would have scored had the ball not bounced over, but he and Fielder both came home on a single by Casey McGehee, who has knocked in five runs in the last two games. Left fielder Matt Holliday made a poor throw home as Fielder scored the second run on the play.
