The Cardinals completed the signing of their arbitration-eligible players today with the announcement that infielder Daniel Descalso had agreed to a one-year deal.
His contract for the 2014 season will be worth $1.29 million.
Descalso had filed a $1.65 million arbitration figure and the club had filed a number of $930,000; the midway point was $1.29 million.
Descalso, 27, appeared in 123 games last season, hitting .238 with five home runs and 42 runs batted in. He started at second base, shortstop and third base.
The lefthanded hitter has a career batting average of .243.
Over the last three seasons, Descalso has played 177 games at third, 153 at second and 94 at shortstop.
