MLB Network televises the Hall of Fame induction speeches Sunday, starting at 12:30 p.m., and there also is much local media coverage on tap in the coming days of former Cardinals manager Whitey Herzog, one of the inductees:
• The Post-Dispatch and STLtoday.com have Rick Hummel (who joined the writers' portion of the Hall in 2007) and photographer Chris Lee on hand for extensive coverage.
• KSDK (Ch. 5) has a special on Herzog and the Hall at 7 tonight, then devotes much of its Sunday night "Sports Plus'' show, which begins at 10:25, to the induction. Sports director Rene Knott is scheduled to be on site.
• KTVI (Ch. 2) goes Herzog-heavy in its "Sports Final'' shows at 9:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, with sports director Martin Kilcoyne there.
• KMOV (Ch. 4) plans considerable coverage on its "Sports Sunday'' show that begins at 10:35 p.m., with new sports staffer Jeff Abeln headed to Cooperstown.
• Fox Sports Midwest plans coverage during the Cards pregame show at 11:35 a.m. Saturday, then airs a half-hour special at 6 p.m. Tuesday that reviews Herzog's experiences over the weekend. Jack Clark, who played for him, will be on that show — which will be repeated often in the next month.
• WXOS (101.1 FM) has Randy Karraker and Bob Ramsey doing their afternoon drive-time show from Cooperstown today and they'll do a three-hour Hall special at noon Saturday.
• KMOX (1120 AM) plans two hours of Herzog programming beginning shortly after 6 tonight, then replays his induction speech at 6 p.m. Sunday.
• KFNS (590 AM) airs a conversation between Herzog and Jay Randolph Sr. at 6 tonight and 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Kilcoyne also will provide several reports.
