Game 3 of the National League Division Series between the Cardinals and Washington Nationals on Wednesday will be televised only on MLB Network, a cable and satellite channel that is purchased in about 30 percent fewer homes that TBS — which is carrying all other contests in the series. In some cases, a subscription to a higher-priced level of service is required to receive MLB Network than is needed to get TBS.

There is no provision for a local station to simulcast the MLB Network feed in a manner akin to what KPLR (Channel 11) did last Thursday night when the NFL allowed it to also carry the NFL Network telecast of the Rams-Arizona contest.

Bob Costas will do play-by-play of Wednesday’s game, which starts at 12:07 p.m. (St. Louis time), as he calls his first postseason game in 12 years. He’ll be accompanied by analyst Jim Kaat and reporter Sam Ryan.

Here is where MLB Network appears on the major programming providers available in the St. Louis area:

AT&T U-verse TV • Channel 634 (HD on Ch.1634)

Charter cable • Channel 204 (HD on Ch. 804 (HD)

DIRECTV • 213

DISH Network • 152 (HD on Ch. 9434)

FAVE • 219
