After letting fans down, Blues have much to do
The new regime of Chairman Dave Checketts and President John Davidson has made a genuine effort to turn the franchise around, only to see their hard work negated by the team's shocking breakdown under coach Andy Murray. The Blues face a crucial offseason. They'll have to give the fans a reason to return in 2008-2009.

The Blues could have lucked out in the draft lottery. But Tampa Bay got the first overall pick instead -– and the Blues were reminded, again, that there are no shortcuts back to playoff contention. The Blues will get a nice player with the fourth overall pick. As for next year, though, the key will be getting the incumbent players back on track.

ESPN The Magazine recently released its "Ultimate Standings: Fan Satisfaction Rankings." The Indianapolis Colts finished first, followed by the San Antonio Spurs, New Orleans Hornets, Green Bay Packers and so on. But just 14 places down the list is a stunning entry: the St. Louis Blues.

Doesnt it feel like we've been cheated somehow if you compare both teams? Philly was the worst team in the league last year, and they are playing in the 3rd round this year! Pens were the worst team 2-3 yrs ago, and they are playing in the 3rd round, too. Think it has to do a little with the coaching?
