Florida State's Nigel Carr is facing suspension while authorities sort out a handful of charges against the junior linebacker from Jacksonville, including two felony charges.
Carr was arrested by Tallahassee police Sunday on two counts of auto burglary, criminal mischief, credit card theft and fraud. The report also noted Carr was arrested July 22 for possession of marijuana.
Coach Jimbo Fisher said the university's policy is to suspend athletes facing felony charges.
N. Carolina awaits word on investigation • North Carolina coach Butch Davis said all the Tar Heels can do is wait for the results of an NCAA investigation into their football program.
Davis provided only limited answers Monday to questions about the inquiry at the Atlantic Coast Conference preseason media day, saying it was best for the school not to make many comments.
The NCAA is looking into whether senior defensive tackle Marvin Austin and senior receiver Greg Little received improper benefits from agents.
Texas A&M receivers coach resigns • Former Louisville coach Steve Kragthorpe is resigning as receivers coach at Texas A&M to tend to family medical issues. Troy Walters, the offensive coordinator at Indiana State last year, will be taking his place.
Kragthorpe was hired in February after the Cardinals fired him following a 4-8 record in his third season.
